Hi, I'm Mikhal

I used to be a corporate writer, but at some point I ran out of words, or maybe just the desire to string together the kinds of words required for that kind of writing. Now I help other people find and articulate their words.

I began writing in my own voice when I chronicled the extraordinary, excruciating last year of my father's life. After his passing in 2017, I kept on writing. I wanted to share the quirky and fascinating and hard and silly and lovely things in this world. Thus was born Three Things.

Why three? It's a number I could reasonably commit to each week. Besides, the Three Little Pigs, the Three Blind Mice, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the Three Musketeers can't all be wrong.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my husband and two kids. Sometimes my urban spirit collides with my rural soul, and a constant wanderlust keeps me looking over the horizon. I have a voracious appetite for news, a thriving freckle population, a well-earned fear of earthquakes, and a dream that someday I'll be able to belt out tunes unselfconsciously. If I could have one superpower, it would be to wipe out injustice.
